Best of Enemies - a homemade horror short - available now to watch

Monster Hunter General Markesan finally catches up with his immortal enemy - the vampire Baron - in this absolutely no budget short animation made in my garage.

I was aiming to do a children's film like 'Trumpton' or 'The Trap Door' by way of Universal Horror. Not sure I succeeded - It's fair to say I couldn't make the puppets do what I wanted, and the flipping backdrops kept failing over. It was a nightmare, to be honest!

See you at The Bitter End - Scarlet Vault short story published in General Witchfinders 'Zine, out now!

I've written a short story for the General Witchfinders 'Zine! It's a beautifully produced mag of horror stories, folklore and nostalgia, and issue 3 features 'The Bitter End', in which you, the reader, investigate missing cadavers with friendly pub landlord Mr Ripper. But drink quickly - it's nearly closing time.

I was very pleased with the illustration that goes alongside my text - which I won't spoil here - you'll have to buy it. You can order the 'zine, and plenty of other cool stuff here: General Witchfinders 'Zine | issue 3 - General Witchfinders's Ko-fi Shop

Reintroducing Talbot & Masterson!

The next two stories released under the 'Scarlet Vault Presents' banner will be a short spin-off series based on the popular Tales from the Scarlet Vault episode 'The Grey Lady of Blackwood House'.

In Talbot & Masterson - Dead Against the Living, we're reintroduced to the cheeky Victorian cockney lad, Jim (now given the surname of Masterson), and his mysterious and miserable psychic boss, Professor Magnus Talbot. Together they assist both the living and the dead from their lodgings in the dreaming spires of Oxford. A second episode, Talbot & Masterson - Killer Spirit follows next week.

If you enjoy the episodes, or prefer the regular show, or would like to hear a spin-off for other characters introduced in a Tale from the Scarlet Vault, please do drop us a line.

Dial-A-Witch - New episode out now!

A new episode is now making it's way to subscribers. 'Dial-A-Witch' was a fun one to write.

Do you have a supernatural problem? Call DIAL-A-WITCH now, and Auntie Miranda will do her very best to help you. But that might not be enough.

Calls from landlines cost £2 per minute, calls from mobile phones may be significantly higher. DIAL-A-WITCH is for entertainment and commercial purposes only.

As has already been mentioned on these pages, I find writing much more enjoyable if I can cast actors I admire in the lead roles (only in my imagination, sadly, this is a no budget, homemade affair!). 'Auntie Miranda' in this story would be played by the lovely Caroline Munro:

I'm the proud owner of an autographed message from Caroline, given to me by an old workmate who knew her. These days, she presents the Cellar Club, on the UKs only decent TV channel, Talking Pictures TV.

You can listen to Scarlet Vault Presents everywhere that does podcasts, but if you can't be bothered to go to Spotify or Apple, you can listen to it in the player below. If you liked it - or even if you didn't actually - do leave some feedback.
